Flickr tour

Hi there!

I just took the tour of Flickr. It was great to see what you can do to manage your thousands of photos and videos, keeping them all tidy and updated - electronically.

A basic account is free and there is a range of privacy options/setting to protect your photos from uninvited eyes

Through Flickr you can manage your photo/video collection, edit, categorise, share your photos and where they were taken, create new things with your photos, and update your friends and family with your photos/videos, which is ideal if you are travelling for an extended amount of time.

There are some basic steps to manage your photo/video account:

UPLOAD
Put your photos up on Flickr using programs such as the Flickr uploader, email or via iphoto, Aperture or Windows XP.

EDIT
With the help of Picnik - Flickr's partner, you can edit photos. Get rid of red-eye, crop the image and import different effects.

ORGANISE
The Organizr allows you to create your 'sets' - categories of photos and 'collections' - broader categories like moths and years. In Organizr, you can edit your images and change permissions.

SHARE
By using 'groups' you can find other users with common interests, so that you can share your photos and videos with others. Group members have the ability to share their images and videos and also have a discussion board, where they can share comments with each other.

MAPS
These are a great feature...you can import a map to show others where your photo/video was taken!

MAKE STUFF
Once your images are on Flickr anyone that you have given access to, can use your images and vidoe for any projects they like. Permissions can be changed at anytime.

KEEP IN TOUCH
When you add someone as a contact, you can also select them to be a friend/family contact

GUEST PASS
If you want to share photos with non-members, you can give them a guest pass - giving them special access.

Notes and comments are also a great feature, where your contacts can put little 'post-it' notes and comments on your photos and videos.

Quite a nifty little program, especially for those 'happy snappers' who have millions of photos they like to share with their friends.

Signing off now.....

Bye!
